Editorial Policy
Trust is the foundation of everything we publish. This Editorial Policy explains the standards that guide CSS Magazine’s journalism — how we report, verify, correct, and disclose. We hold every article on cssmagazine.com to these standards, regardless of section or subject.
Accuracy
Accuracy is our first obligation. Every article is researched and reviewed by an editor before publication. We verify facts against primary sources wherever possible — official documents, data, transcripts, and direct statements — and we distinguish clearly between what is confirmed, what is reported by others, and what is opinion or analysis. When a story is still developing and facts are uncertain, we say so plainly rather than presenting speculation as fact. Headlines must accurately reflect the substance of the article they introduce.
Independence
Our editorial decisions are made by our editors, not by advertisers, sponsors, or outside interests. Advertisers have no influence over what we cover or how we cover it. Sponsored content and affiliate relationships, where they exist, are clearly labeled so readers always know the difference between independent journalism and paid material. Our writers and editors are expected to disclose any potential conflicts of interest, and we do not accept payment or gifts in exchange for coverage.
Sourcing
We attribute information to its source. We prefer named, on-the-record sources and primary documents, and we link to source material whenever practical so readers can verify our reporting for themselves. Anonymous sourcing is used sparingly, only when the information is newsworthy and cannot be obtained another way, and only when an editor understands the source’s identity and motivation. We do not plagiarize, and we credit the original reporting of other outlets when we build on their work.
Corrections
We correct our mistakes quickly and transparently. When we publish a factual error, we fix it as soon as it is verified and append a correction note explaining what was changed. Significant updates to developing stories are noted with a timestamp. Readers who spot an error are encouraged to report it to editorial@cssmagazine.com; every correction request is reviewed by an editor.
AI Assistance Disclosure
Like many modern newsrooms, CSS Magazine may use artificial intelligence tools to assist with parts of our workflow, such as research, transcription, copy editing, and drafting support. However, every article we publish is directed, reviewed, fact-checked, and approved by human editors, who remain fully responsible for its accuracy and fairness. We do not publish unreviewed AI-generated content, and AI tools are never a substitute for human editorial judgment.
